Top 10 Reasons for Off-Site Backups
#10 - Cost and Predictability

The cost of a DLT tape auto-loader every few years, plus its maintenance cost,
combined with backup software and open-file agents, software updates, and the
tape media with periodic off-site rotation, can easily run into a couple of
thousands of dollars over a three year period. Generally, these tasks are also
maintained by consultants who charge $150 or more per hour to keep it all working.
If you add to that the cost of the off-site storage facility, a periodic test
restore, the time for your staff to perform the backups and an occasional "real"
restore, all for a process that has a typical success rate of 23%, tape backups
do not make sound business sense.

How do you want to spend your Company's time and money?
